Driving aggressively, like speeding, accelerating quickly, and braking hard, lowers your miles per gallon (MPG). Driving smoothly can improve fuel efficiency. Here's how different driving habits impact your Elantra's fuel use:Speeding reduces MPG. Drive at speed limits.Rapid acceleration decreases efficiency. Accelerate gently.Hard braking uses more fuel. Try to anticipate stops.Idling gets 0 MPG. Turn off the engine when stationary.Carrying heavy loads decreases MPG. Carry less weight.Comparison With CompetitorsAdopting fuel-efficient driving habits can improve your Hyundai Elantra's MPG. When comparing its efficiency with competitors, the Elantra performs well. Here's how it stands against some main rivals in fuel efficiency:Toyota Corolla: The Corolla has better fuel economy, especially its hybrid versions. But, with standard engines, the Elantra and Corolla are similar in efficiency.Honda Civic: The Civic has MPG figures close to the Elantra. Sometimes the Civic does slightly better, but the difference is usually small.Mazda 3: Mazda 3, with its Skyactiv technology, is known for efficiency. The Elantra matches or is slightly less efficient than Mazda 3.Ford Focus: The Focus, no longer available in North America, was less efficient than the Elantra. The Elantra was a more cost-effective choice for fuel economy.Optimizing Your MPGTo get the most miles per gallon from your Hyundai Elantra, changing how you drive can really help. Here are key habits that improve your car's fuel efficiency:Accelerate gently to use less fuel, save money, and help the environment.Keep a steady speed to avoid wasting fuel.Use cruise control on long drives to keep fuel use low.Regularly maintain your car to ensure it runs efficiently and gets the best MPG.ConclusionTo sum it up, how much gas your Hyundai Elantra uses depends on the model and how you drive.
